  • Youth Sunday School - Honor God's Diversity

When we speak of God’s diversity, we consider all that God created and saw as good (Genesis 1:1–2:1). God created the world and all that is in it. And what a rich, diverse world it is: all kind of plants, flowers, trees, birds, insects, fish, ocean life, and, of course, human beings. We are diverse colors, sizes, abilities, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and languages. We honor God’s diversity when we appreciate and protect the totality of all that God made. It was obviously an intention of our Creator to mix this world up with variety. How boring life would be if we were all the same!

Formation Sundays at 11:15am in the 2nd Floor Conference Room

  • Adult Sunday School - The Lord and His Prayer

In this book of pastoral reflections N.T. Wright explores how the Lord's Prayer sums up what Jesus was all about in his first-century setting. Wright locates the Lord's Prayer, clause by clause, within the historical life and work of Jesus and allows the prayer's devotional application to grow out of its historical context. The result is a fresh understanding of Christian spirituality and the life of prayer. This deeply devotional book will refresh and stimulate the heart and mind of any reader.

Led by Charlotte Elia, this study starts at 11:15 am on Sunday, April 14, 2024 in The Pastors' Gallery on the second floor and meets on April 14, 21, 28 and May 12, 19, 26.

Study guides are available for loan or purchase. Please register here.

  • Pastor's Bible Study - Acts for Everyone

Writing in an accessable and anecdotal style, Tom Wright helps us to approach the rich and many-sided story of the book of Acts. Wright shows how the book builds on Luke's Gospel, laying out the continuing work and teaching of the now risen and ascended Jesus in the power of the Spirit. His writing captures the vivid way in which Luke's work draws us all into he story, while leaving the ending open and challenging, inviting Christians today to pick up and carry on the story as we in turn live our lives in the service of Jesus.

Led by Pastor Gordon Mapes, this class meets on Wednesdays from 10-11am in the 1st Floor Conference Room starting on May 15th.

All supplies will be provided, but you may want to bring: any pretty paper scraps or ephemera, scissors if you have personal favorites, old photos (or photocopies of treasured personal photos).

  • Lectio Divina - May 23 @ 10:30am

In this workshop you'll engage the ancient practice of Lectio Divina or "sacred reading" in which you'll be invited to meditate on a brief portion of scripture through repeated hearings of the text. You'll then be invited to respond to the text using the medium of your choosing including journaling, poetry, drawing, collage, or silence. This experience should leave you feeling more self-aware, spiritually present, and connected to God.

Participants will not be asked to share their work, but they will have the opportunity to offer any insights they might have gained if they so choose.

Supplies and light refreshments provided. You are welcome to bring your own materials if you choose. Free and open to the public. Limited to 15 participants. Register here.

  • Creative Free Space - May 30 @ 10:30am

You may choose to bring your knitting, sewing, or other craft you've been working on, devote yourself to some journaling, or use this time to refine some work begun in a previous spirituality workshop. And if you find yourself uninspired, we'll provide some prompts to get you going!

You can expect a relaxed time with good company, the support of a creative community, and possibility learning a new skill or trading tips!
